/ CARAPITO
“And here it is, the top of the Nave mountain range, the exposed, bald part, perhaps the most humiliated part of Beira.(…) That ballroom of the winds; a gloomy bandstand for wolves; worn-out plains where hares exhaust the dogs, and the cunning vixen boldly came to tease the poultry snatched from the perches of Carapito (...)”

HISTORY
Carapito, situated at the top of the mountain, is a Beira village with open horizons and breathtaking views. Its privileged location offers unique panoramas, where the fresh mountain air invites you to take a deep breath and enjoy the tranquility of nature.
Here, granite dominates the landscape: traditional houses, perched on the rocks, give the village an authentic and rustic character. The crystalline water that springs from the sources, the green meadows, and the rocky outcrops scattered across the plateaus recall the deep connection between the community and the mountains.
Carapito is also the birthplace of the Paiva River. Its main source is found in Cachopos, and an old small bridge, still remembered by the population, bears witness to the ancestral connection of this land to the fertile fields of Toitainho.
Anyone who visits Carapito will find a territory marked by shepherding, the genuine flavors of traditional bread, and a natural landscape of great beauty, where there is no shortage of trails to discover, silence to appreciate, and memories to cherish.
